Murasakino Guesthouse is a cozy and newly renovated officially licensed guesthouse located just north of central Kyoto. The house itself is about 90 years old and is build in the old traditional style of Machiya house. We have taken great care to preserve the authentic old style atmosphere while at the same time providing modern day comforts such as western style toilet and modern bathing facility.
Neighborhood:
Murasakino Guesthouse is located in a quiet residential area that is quite popular with Kyoto locals. There are many shops and restaurants catering to locals along with many interesting and beautiful sightseeing spots off the beaten path. Bus stops are only 5 minutes away and subway station 12 minutes away, that can easily connect you to the rest of Kyoto city. If you are looking for a more peaceful and live-like-a-local experience then Murasakino Guesthouse is the perfect place for you.
Facilities:
There is a fully equipped kitchen where you can enjoy a leisurely meal before or after sightseeing in Kyoto. We also provide free coffee and tea.
There are two bicycles available free of charge and it is possible to rent more bikes at a bicycle shop about 10 minutes away.
The new and modern bath unit comes fully equipped with both shower and bathtub. A large window allows you to enjoy a nice view of the back garden from the bath. We also provide our guests with all necessary toiletries such as body wash, shampoo, conditioner etc, along with towels free of charge.
Two large bedrooms are on the second floor. One is a traditional tatami floor room that can sleep 3 - 4 persons on futons (the best way to experience Japanese house). The other room has wooden floor and 2 Western style beds.
Murasakino guesthouse has two small traditional Japanese gardens so our guests can enjoy a relaxing and an authentic experience of staying in a traditional style Japanese house. One garden is in the front of the house and can be viewed from the living room, and the other is in the back of the house providing great scenery from the kitchen area.
